General InformationName BadgesAll Congress registrants are required to wear their name badge in order to gain entry to the scientific sessions. Audio-Visual EquipmentAll Meeting rooms will be equipped with the following:
Meals and RefreshmentsLunches are included in the Registration fees and will take place in the Salon Mont-Royal, on Level 4 of Centre Mont-Royal. For coffee breaks, refreshments will be served in the exhibit area and in the poster area on Level 3 and 4 of Centre Mont-Royal. Health InsuranceVisitors are NOT covered by the Canadian Health Insurance Plan. It is therefore recommended that participants arrange their own health and accident coverage. This can be done before leaving home through a local travel agent or medical association. LiabilityThe Congress fees DO NOT include provisions for the insurance of participants against personal injuries, sickness, theft or property damage. This also applies to any event held during the Congress period. Participants and accompanying persons are advised to arrange for insurance they consider necessary. Neither the Congress Organizing Committee, nor its sponsors or committee members assume any responsibility for loss, injury or damage to persons or belongings, whatever the cause may be. Passports and VisasParticipants are strongly advised to determine which requirements apply to them with respect to entering Canada. For information please consult your nearest Canadian Embassy, High Commission, Consulate, Customs Agent or your travel agent. Public TransitThere is a shuttle bus every half-hour from the airport that stops at several downtown hotels. The cost for the bus is approximately $12.00 CAN (eachway) or $8.00 US. A complimentary shuttle service is also available between the Aérobus Station and major downtown hotels. Taxis are also available from the airport to downtown at a cost of approximately $28.00 CAN or $20.00 US. Tourist InformationThose wishing to plan excursions in Canada before or after the Congress can obtain maps, accommodation lists and descriptions of sites of interest from the tourism services of each Canadian province:
Foreign Exchange and BankingTravellers' cheques can be cashed at numerous banks and stores (with purchases). There are numerous ATM Bank Machines in downtown Montreal. Banks are generally closed on Sundays in Canada. There is a foreign exchange booth at the Dorval airport. TaxesThe Goods and Services Tax (at time of printing) is a seven per cent tax that is charged on most goods and services sold or provided in Canada. Foreign visitors to Canada can apply for a rebate on the GST that is paid on accommodation (up to 30 nights per visit), and on goods purchased in Canada and exported within 60 days of the purchase. They can apply for GST refunds only after they return to their own country. Rebate forms will be available at the hotel.
